RE: Mt Rushmore area activities

Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about I-90. The Corn Palace is worth a visit. I didn't like Wall Drug (thought it was a rip off) but after such a long drive, everyone stops anyway. Just past Wall, there's a ICBM missile silo museum that's a much more interesting than than Wall Drug.

RE: Mt Rushmore area activities

I really enjoyed the 1880's Train, the gold mine in Keystone, exploring back roads to ghost towns like Mystic. Even if you've been to Rushmore 100's of times, the lighting ceremony is a must if you haven't seen it! If you go to Deadwood, go up the hill to the cemetery to see Wild Bill and Calamity Jane's graves. The Mickelson trail is good fun on the bikes. A day trip to the Badlands and of course, stop at the air museum at Ellsworth AFB on the way.

RE: Bikes on Bumpers?

Thanks for all of the advice! As a new RVer, I value everyone's experience. I think I'll keep the bikes inside for now. The bed with a bike on a moving blanket and a couple of other places inside sound much better than having my bikes sliding down the highway! You would think that with bikes being such a huge part of the camping experience, the RV industry would do more to provide bike storage while traveling.
Thanks again!

Bikes on Bumpers?

I just saw this new item at Northern Tool and wonder if anyone else has tried it yet to mount a bike carrier. Any problems??

I already have a hitch receiver type bike carrier and this would be perfect for me to put a couple of bikes on the back of the TT.

RE: winterizing water heater?

I've read on other forums (and maybe even here) that putting the pink stuff in the water heater is a big no-no. That's why they have the bypass valve so you can put antifreeze in all the lines without it going in the water heater. Definitely drain the water heater and just leave it empty with the drain plug out. When you replace the anode rod or drain plug, put some plumbers tape around the threads so it will be easier to remove next winter.

RE: Considering a Palomino Thoroughbred T-275 TT-Help!!

We just bought a new 07 Palomino T-271 and took a 3-hour trip to the Outer Banks, NC for a weekend of camping. It towed like a dream behind my Suburban 1500. I can't speak to quality yet since we've only used it once but after months of looking and three days camping in it, we're extremely satisfied with initial quality!
